A Good Conversationalist

A good conversationalist
Laughs, and makes others laugh-
Smiles when it is right,
Cheers when it is needed,
Teases when it is playful,
and Empathizes when there is sorrow.
Enlightens, sparks, entertains, and cries.

They never take a presence for granted-
Spending time is spare and easily done
But one chooses to spend time with you,
One hopes that you will make the wasted time worthwhile.
Make it memorable and keep an audience.

A brilliant talker
Knows the limits,
Where to stop talking,
When to resume,
How to tread.
They tie knots,
Unloop holes,
And leave other ones to solve,
Other circles to follow on.

A statement,
Followed by a question,
Succeeded by an affirmation,
Finalized with a realization.

Active and passive,
Talker and listener,
An audience and a performer at the same time,

A good conversationalist

is a participant.
