The Devil's Foot Prints

They appeared late one night in the snow
towns folk found them the following day
He caused quite a stir
in that little English town
the devil did
for it is said
it was his foot prints
that covered a hundred miles in a day
crossing over brick houses and stone walls
leading in a straight line to where?
who else could it have been? the people ask
Scienists tried to explain it
supplying thousands of animals whose foot fit the print
but none could have gone so far
in a single night
so to this day there are towns men
in a little town somewhere in England
that believes their ground was touched
by the Devil's feet

    very nice!

Wow, another on the Devil's Footprints! I do suppose it is one with a lot of possible fictional depth to it. I appreciate the lack of rhyme/loose structure and style of the poem. It is also extremely informative, and follows the accounts very closely.

Perhaps a little too closely? The artistic quality might have been shoved aside a little to harshly for the subject matter, and the more thoughtful lines like "leading in a straight line to where?" could be amped up or multiplied.

    Thank you for your poem!
