Parted Ways

Muttered apologies camoflaged; hidden

in the crinkle of morning news.

Steamed caffine soured by thoughts

of yesterday's disagreement.

Buttered toast passed with eyes avoidance;

determination of self justification made in silence.

Adultery brewed a fresh pot of animosity

soaking divorce's desktop

with battles of property divided

and alimony settled as ways parted.
