I closed my eyes
(then darkness came…)
I dreamt I went to war,
I saw a soldier
with a gun, I asked,
what was it for?
I met a man
who looked at me,
spit and yelled my name,
pointed at a row of graves
(said I was to blame…)
Next, a General,
straight and tall,
all medals in a row
told me, “I am here to win.
I know God told me so.”
I came upon a book of prayer
stained red and buried deep.
Then, as I read the holy words,
blood through verses seeped.
I never heard
the bullet come,
but felt it hit the bone.
I closed my eyes
(then darkness came…)
and now I dream no more.
Peace Abel

You always tackle such a variety of subjects...and you always do so as if you are right there in the moment...right there in the heart and mind of another. Such style! You never cease to impress me...but then, you knew that
btw...love the formatting! hahaha
