Honour

Honour I see as the greatest virtue,
Unlike love it does not hurt you,
Honour is the scarlet rose,
Our gift from God, our manly prose

A man with honour can feel a sense of place,
Of where he belongs, a textured face,
It tells him how to run his life and makes him feel so proud.

For honour is but the purest quality of love and feeling,
It offers protection, trust and healing,
But most of all it does not need reciprocation
Others feel it without hesitation.

But as for love whose pain is great,
It brings weakness and short fate,
It gives a man his sensitivity,
A means to hurt him, confines humility,
Disgraces people and their dignity
And most of all robs a man of his virginity.

Men are made for honour and women made for love,
Love the weaker of the two
The feeling that makes you wonder who,
Is doing this awful thing to you.

For it is bound inexorably to your fate,
It brings you down it makes you hate,
Love even weak is the reason for passion
The thing that makes it hurt when you show compassion.
Love also, as hurtful as it is, has the power to erase a man’s honour.

My life was better before I loved and felt this pain,
It seems to drive you utterly insane
See I had no values on people’s actions
Nothing mattered, people were just interactions
But then that evil thing clicked on in my brain,
No more would I feel my honour again

Love gives you a reason to hurt others,
Mothers, uncles, aunts and brothers,
Honour is what makes you care for them,
And love is the thing that breaks it.
For if you cannot have your lover it drives you to harass,
Until the feeling is accepted
That striking blade you’ll feel its wrath.

Let’s say you get that love of yours and they in turn love you,
What say you when another comes and loves you like you do,
For now you have twice the pain and love has made you blind,
I laugh at you while pity you just see what you will find.

For your love for the other never was,
It was just to fill in time because,
You had to wait for the other,
To come along and be your lover.
And later you find that love too had lied and now you seek another.

Love will never stay with you,
I hate to tell you but it’s true,
‘Cos eventually that love will leave
Comes back again, and you believe,
That love truly is the thing we need.

But you will find that solemn kiss
Will be shared by others you find bliss
And when you die and when you part
The reason will be a broken heart
And you’ll know that love is but a lie
That makes our lives more interesting.

How I wish I never knew,
The extent of what love could really do
My honour gone, my heart now stained
Ironically I feel not shamed,
Because love is what I have blamed,
For how in my life I misbehaved.

So listen when I tell you now,
Do not let that honour go,
The question you may ask is how,
With nothing good in life to show

But you have God and I do not,
For I have shamed him many times a lot,
And God will show you the proper way
That love, so cruel, is here to stay
And there is a way to make it good
You will do what I never could,
Find the greater happiness that it creates.

Love is, all there is to be.
But without honour you stuff it up
And find life to be a burden, multiplied by three.

Please tell me what you think

    Love is a risky business

You have expressed that clearly here, putting your honour on the line for love hhhmmm is it worth it? Well I suppose that depends on the depth and greatness of the love.

Loving your expression it shows a lot of consideration for the topic. Hopefully you may have re-assessed by now
