The blood moon rising in the east,
Illuminates the surface of the lake;
Where ripples sway to a soft breeze
That brings a sweet perfume of rose and lilac.
Hot and humid the air hangs thick and stifling
As frogs and crickets serenade each other.
Every waft of air sends shivers along damp skin
And carries whispers from surrounding leaves.
While clouds waltz through the atmosphere
And stars shimmer from the depths of space,
A family of wolves howl a midnight lullaby
And I imagine myself as one of the pack. . .
Running free.

This piece was really fantastic. There are a lot of deep and great images in this. I love the images in the first line the most, very powerful. You use a lot of complimentary images, frogs and crickets, hot and humid, it seems to be a bit of motif in this, which I liked a lot too. Good luck in this contest, judging by the judges response I see you doing well.

Thank you so much. I'm glad you like it. It was almost completely different and in a really messed up form which I hated so I completely revamped it tonight. Lady Lilly

Thank you. I'm glad you like it cause I'm not that fond of it myself. It doesn't flow very well so I'm thinking about changing the form but keeping the soul of the poem. Thank you again and good luck with your contest. *
