Sitting back, drinking a cold beer
Relaxing for the first time all day
Nothing or no one is even near
Damn, I love it just this way
Finally time for little ole me
Listen and tell me what you hear
Silence... OMG, it's hard to believe
Not another soul is any where near
I know it won't last too long at all
But, thats okay, I would go in sane
If I didn't have to be at their beck and call
My life just isn't that plain
But I will enjoy my time alone
And take it for what it is
Time for Momma to finally relax
But them, I will soon start to miss

There has been so much going on this weekend, I finally get a chance to sit back and relax. Kids are asleep, Honey is in the tub... Its just me, the computer, and my budweiser!!! I may not drink much, but this my friends is well needed after the few days I have had.....

Good for you!
I loved the simple, "every day" truthfulness of your poem. It brings back the days of when I was a frazzled mother of young children, and there was never a dull moment...or a moment for myself. Those rare times that I did find myself alone, were refreshing, but eerie and scary...because it felt so empty and alone without them. My kids are grown up now but we are very close. I'm still pretty much at their "beck and call" sometimes, thank God. Hopefully, soon I will have grandchildren. Your poem sure brought back memories! It had good poetic rhyme and a good balance. Keep relishing those fleeting moments of solitude!
