to get up early,
and start my day out right.
Laying in the dark,
Wanting it so badly,
Just lie to myself,
Say that you're tired,
Close your eyes,
And make believe...
Time to get up,
Get ready and go,
Can't forget the fake smile,
Where would i be without that?
Compliments don't mean a thing,
They're bullshit in my head
They must be crazy,
If they seem to think that..
Just smile and say thank you,
No need to be rude,
They don't need to know the truth.
Just keep telling yourself,
How nice you look,
And everything will be alright,
To make myself feel better,
i will tell me just one thing,
i know of some people,
who would like to be me.
If you say it enough,
It should come true,
It just takes a little convincing,
How much more convincing do i need to do?
Author notes
option 6, ~*~Lost in the lies~*~
okay, this isn't that great, i wrote it pretty damn early/late whatever you want to call it, i havent slept yet, i'm friggen tired, i can't sleep, and i'll probably edit this poem, or delete it and write a new one.
i just liked the concept of this contest and wanted to enter.
i think of lies, as convincing, so thats what i based this on. lie sounds pretty bad, but convincing, has a happier note to it, even if it isnt a happy thing. such as, if you're ugly and gross, and you tell yourself, you're pretty and lovely, you aren't lieing, you're just convincing yourself, so if you do it enough, maybe it will come true.
i don't know, maybe i'm delerious from lack of sleep.
Thanks, hope you enjoyed.

I like this, and it is a great concept....Convincing yourself of something you know is not true in your heart, is kind of the same as lying...but with a happier twist....I love the way you have captured that in this piece...very well done. I love this:
If you say it enough,
It should come true,
It just takes a little convincing,
It pretty much sumarizes what you said in your write, and then the ending:
How much more convincing do i need to do?
I thing many, many people can relate to that questions, we always try to convince ourselves that we are something that we are not...and sometimes if we can convince ourselves enough....we may just start to believe it...
Thanks for entering!
Good luck
