Faith in Me

Instead of putting
Faith
in some god you can’t even see,
how about placing some of that faith inside of me?
Look,
I could be your confidant.
I could tear the chains right off your feet.
But most of all,
I could make you love again.

Okay, I’m telling you now I will break that trust.
I’ll make you weep again and again.
But know that in the end,
you could feel something move
inside your not so stoic heart.
And it’ll feel like the first time
when you saw a Technicolor movie.

Maybe you’re afraid.
Maybe it’s just a game for you.
I’ve finally thrown away my washable markers
because I know what I want.
It’ll be our initials
in sharpie
that cover the back of my notebook.
But honestly, I’m tired of cheering you on in the sidelines.
Let’s make memories together.

Please tell me what you think

This poem is fantastic! It reads a little like prose, but it's so straight-forward that I felt like reading it a few times. I was very impressed with this poem. It's a really great write--very honest and true. It's also sweet in a way. Great job. Keep it up!
