Staring at the walls, It's nearly 2:50 am.
My head is spinning, sprinting again.
I keep looking at the clock and I swear it stares back.
The hands, they wave! The face, it laughs!
It's nearly 3:10.
It's like last night all over again.
And again, and again, and AGAIN.
I-N-S-O-M-N-I-A.
Insomnia.
I keep changing positions, too the side, too the end.
It's almost 5:20 am. I'm relieving my nightmare once again.
Something scratching at my window, something big and black.
It was there last night, so maybe the monster is back?
To steal my peace, to steal my sleep.
My nights are vivid, my days are hazy.
I think I might be going crazy!
Just a tiny bit insane.
The sun's peeking into my room, it's happiness it can't contain.
It's now 6:30 am. It's yesterday once again.
What is it called when you can't sleep?
I-N-S-O-M-N-I-A
Author notes
This is a writing assignment I did for my language class.
I though insomnia would be a good topic, since I sometimes suffer from it.
And yes, after about 3 days without sleep, you do tend to think things are talking to you.
My name is Beide. Phonetically: Bye-Dee

I know how that feels and I did once stay awake for three days, it's awful isn't it and the worst part was none of my family believed that i had actually been awake that long, well, anyway, the poem really made a person feel what it's like to have insomnia and the flow was good. Great stuff.

Oh, I know the feeling, where you can't sleep and you're brain is searching for oxygen but can't seem to grasp it at the time and you start visualizing things that are not apparant. Very good write. I enjoyed reading it.
Best of luck & thanks for entering my contest

=D
I'd really like to hear this sung. So many amateur songs are just crappy poems that couldn't make it the world of poetry. This definitely has a good feel to it.
In line 14, you misspelled to. Other than that, it's well done grammatically.

i really like this poem/song lyrics. the repetition works really well without over doing it. just one small thing.. "too the side" should be "to the side". great write

Insomnia is a waking nightmare. My husband suffers from it. He has tried everything to get some good, quality sleep but still wakes up every hour or two (after not sleeping all night) and feels like he hasn't slept at all.
Noticed some typos.."might =being= be going crazy"..and..-"=agian= again"
Otherwise, well done!
Maureen
P.S.: I recently read an article that said that insomnia is the forgetfulness that comes from lack of sleep.

Man, I know the feeling
I like it, though the part of the sleep troll sounds a bit awkward, I just can't put my finger on why...
I too suffer from insomnia. Most nights I don't sleep at all.

This is brilliant, you have some superb words in here, I love especially, the first stanza, these words, are like a work of art. A write which is imbued with the tenderness of your nature. This a very important message and you delivered it with great style and grace. With faith as small as the size of a mustard seed, one can move mountains. This is such a beautiful piece of writing.....the words and lines flow perfectly...I must say I really enjoyed this! thank you for sharing this with us and keep up the good work.
