I wash my hand again and again,
To throw away the unseen germs.
Among them I hate the protozoa most,
I wash my hands unless they bleed.
I say my prayers again and again,
Unless I make perfect prayers,
Cause God is so perfect,
Perhaps he does not accept imperfect prayers.
I paint the circle again and again,
I can not tolerate any blank spot,
To make sure I paint them a million times.
Imperfect art is quite useless.

It must be torture to go through this. It's a very graphic description of this disorder.

insightful
Very deep and very insightful!
Nicely done!
Thanks for entering and good luck!! -
I love the final stanza, as it had a more metaphorical sound to it.
No idea what else to say really... -
OCD kicks my ass everyday. It's a pain in the butt to live with this...this is a very good poem and I sympathize with anyone living with it.

this made me think of that film as good as it gets with jack nicholson, where he washes his hands with a brand new block of soap, rinses his hands then opens another bar of soap to wash his hands again. a good piece. i thank you kindly for entering your poetic piece and good luck to you in this contest - spill ink and twist me into the crazy shape of love...

Not all protozoa are detrimental
but I suspect living in Bangledesh has taught you to be wary of the little fellows. I have to disagree about imperfect art as well! Perfection is God's alone, we can but try to emulate perfection to please God. Imperfect art might still put food on the table. -

Thank you for your comment. This poem was also influenced by the American movie Aviator's Howard Hughes. Howard Hughs suffered from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I heard about a 10 year old child used to paint the same circle again and again. And in Bangladesh you have to be careful about germs.
