Go Gently ...

I weave my way through life’s many mazes
with good friends, more often than not!
I take advice when clarity hazes
or disorder finds my weak spot!
I know upsets can prevent or hamper,
all the gentleness of good thought!
I understand that wealth of good temper -
is a richness that can’t be bought.
Confident, I expose all the reasons
then justify all that is wrought.
While life ... comes to me in seasons ~
Inspiration comes when it ought!

Opening my mind to those that are sharing;
Teaching my soul the fine art of caring ...

I feel my way through this unpredicted -
mysterious life-giving scheme.
I brace myself for the unexpected
while observing this wakeful dream!
Fully aware ~ with a ghostly suspense
that a challenge beyond my means,
Might come to affront, my good-natured sense -
rearranging some self-esteem.
Yet living inside this thick-coated bard,
a most gentle, warrior gleams;
Waiting quite silent but always on guard
to come neutralize any scene.

Opening my mind to the art of caring;
Teaching my soul the value of sharing ...

    I think the most poetic, most beautiful lines of this piece are:
    "Yet living inside this thick-coated bard,
    a most gentle, warrior gleams;
    Waiting quite silent but always on guard
    to come neutralize any scene."
    To balance one's self isn't easy...maybe that's my problem...

    We'd all do well to take this advice. I found only one chink in the rhyme scheme... 'armor' - 'ready'? Good luck in the contest.

    Sincerely,
    Leo Long

    Excellent

    I love the gentle, yet resolute, philosophy underpinning this lovely poem, Joy--would that we could all practise this way of thinking and dealing with life's ups and downs.
