An innocent maiden is a rare find indeed
In a land full of murder, corruption, and greed.
But alas, how long will it take
For an immoral man to display to her a love so fake?
In a flash the sparkling light that once filled her eyes
Is replaced by a hollow darkness of pain and lies.
She will be scared and timid for the rest of her days
Because a man has displayed evil in countless ways.
Being young and pretty comes with a very high cost
Just think of the innocent maiden, whose innocence was lost.
Author notes
I found this poem on a drawing I did a couple years ago.
What did you think?

Oh no!
Poor maiden! It seems the beauty of this poem comes at the cost of the maiden's innocence but I would be lying if I said I'd rather see the maiden keep her innocence. This is an interesting poem because it has a very classic (almost fairytale-ish) feel but the idea is still rellevant today. I see this as a reflection of how other people's actions affect our perception of this world. Anyway, sorry for rambling. I really liked the poem and had nothing very productive to say unfortunately.

A perception of the cost of beauty.
Very forboding indeed. A rather narrow perception of life, but your poem displays those sentiments to me and as you intended I am certain, but a lot of what you have written is about one's normal journey through life where many dangers lurk but many more good times are normal too.
