The dragon waits to claim the day
silent in his deadly sleep
the foolish then will wake him
and stand helplessly like sheep.
For the dragon holds those promises
of fantasies for all
but when the day slows down again
those innocents will fall.
The dragon's fire comes freely out
and reaches like a flood
then burns your mind a hundred times
as it rides there in your blood.
Don't fight against the dragon
he's to old for you to slay
when fire comes creeping by you
avoid his gaze and run away.
Author notes
When the dragon burns
the scars are deep
and even in the realms of sleep
you won't escape that toxic breath
until released from it - by death

Oh wow. This is pretty much the exact opposite of the poem you wrote about a dragon the other day. It's a pretty rare talent to be able to take a subject and portray it in different ways. You do it so well. This is a really great write. I love it.
