Life is as the desert sand
Not cast in stone and neatly planned
For though some parts appear as fixed
The route between can oft be mixed
Where life can change by human rift
Just as the desert dunes can drift
And so the path we chose to tread
May not be that down which we’re led
The way that we adapt to these
Will then decide our victories
We may traverse the shifting sand
To reach the life we so demand
But we may find much to our cost
That we within the sands are lost
Where we could drift for quite some time
Without a goal for us to climb
Now blown about by passing storm
Where swirling sand becomes our norm
We drift from one point to the next
There only to be more perplexed
Life is fluid like the sand
With ever changing vista grand
That when we look to years ahead
We see the path before us spread
The route we have within our mind
That through the changing sands must find
But we may see in dawns despair
The route we chose no longer there
And so must find another path
Or face our own self damning wrath
--ooo000ooo---
Life is like the oceans seas
Where we can drift along at ease
Then wash ashore upon the tide
Where we can there to live decide
But if we do not choose to dwell
Again to drift on ocean’s swell
Until some other land is found
Where once again on solid ground
But if that place we choose to stay
We might find seas wash it away
Life is full of ups and downs
With deep dark troughs and white crest crowns
Where most of us can only go
Along with ocean currents flow
There are but few who can so choose
That only on the crests will cruise
The rest of us must ride the waves
Life’s victims and the ocean’s slaves
Until the day we’re cast ashore
And opt to go to sea no more
But if you have a goal in mind
And have a place you want to find
Then you cannot afford to drift
To reach the place both sure and swift
That on the tide alone will float
But need some power to your boat
And that will come from the formation
Of your own determination
So you can go against the flow
To find the place you want to know
Life is like the desert
Life is like the sea
Something’s always changing
In the places that we be
Nothing ever stays the same
There’s always something new
We drift within the swirling sands
And float on oceans blue
Until the day when we may find
The place to lay our head
And never more again will have
This troubled path to tread
