In contoured lines of sheeted snow
Eyes drift in wakes of shallow shoals
And I wonder at the depths below
Mists part in breaths of rumpled time
To light a freckled face
Glints of silver-- blades in rhyme
Crowned by a woolen brow
Frost pompom beards sketched in white
--Hot snowflakes sear my skin
Strings fed by colors fat and bright
The lust of every crow
My buttoned collar scarfs my chin
And I wonder at the depths below
I wonder at the depths below
Author notes
Girls in toques rule! Must be a Canadian thing!
OK... just to elaborate a bit more...
I don't think wool knitted caps are known as toques (rhymes with spooks) anywhere else in the world. I see them where I live in a huge array of styles. I saw a girl in one yesterday that had little mouse ears and embroidered eyes and whiskers on the front... too cute!
You have to come to Canuckland for a visit, eh!

A canadian thing, huh? Well I would not know! Nicely done, smooth flow and very cute. Yet you will have to explain the Canadian thing to me, I can be a bit slow.
Cute and enjoyable read as always. Good form and light hearted.
