Count your blessing pallid sleeper
dreams disguise the sickle's edge.
Delve into your whims much deeper
and you'll miss the steely wedge.
Choose your soul's eternal keeper
hide your sins from Holy wraiths.
Pay no heed to midnight creepers,
wrap yourself tight in your faith.
Stain no pillows with your weeping,
make no deals with shadowed hands.
Face the Fates that have been keeping
track of weakling, mortal strands.
Waste no precious moments seeking
what you had no time to do.
Prove you're courage without speaking
when the Reaper comes for you.
Beg no mercy from the sallow,
plead no case before his bone;
purpose deems his soul be hallowed
as it deems you die alone.

This was amazing. Your rhyming was great. I loved the mood you create with this piece.
I loved you last stanza:
"Beg no mercy from the sallow,
plead no case before his bone;
purpose deems his soul be hallowed
as it deems you die alone."
Thank you for your entry.
Best of luck! -

Thank you so much. I had such a great time writing this and am thrilled to pieces that you liked it enough to award gold. There is something that lures me to personifications of the Grim Reaper...lol... it could be the sickle, or maybe the mysterious cowl he wears; it certainly isn't his dashing charm and good looks

Again, many thanks.
s and best wishes... ~Genie~

Awsome!
Great write. I love the part where it says, "Waste no precious moments seeking
what you had no time to do.
Prove you're courage without speaking
when the Reaper comes for you." Its like your saying dont dwell on things in the past that you didn't get to do because it will do you no good. And you need to stand strong when Death comes for you. Awsome write. I loved it, good luck in the contest.

Thanks, and you are correct. The line "what you had no time to do" is like all is over and there is no time left for these things... and that if they were not important enough to be done when you had many days left, they can't be too important when no days are left. Thanks again.
