Standing on the shore, looking at the horizon,
The sun, melting away in a sea of warmth
Sends glittering tones of utter bliss lighting
The facial features of deep introspection.
Setting sail into the unknown depths of the sea,
Or remaining comforted by sand between toes?
Enticing portraits painted by the setting sun,
Reflecting obscurity, will the portrait last?
Hardships prevail in the pursuit of the horizon,
While idling comfort is found on steady ground.
Avowing this, is it worth the risk to set sail?
Tempted by the beauty of the unknown ahead,
But held by the opulence of comfort and safety.
Pondering which path should be tread while
Standing on the shore, where water meets land.
Author notes
a crossroad where water meets land
reaching for decision

A beautiful capturing of one standing at the crossroads of the different road of life. The imagery is done with brilliance. Well written. Thank you for your entry in my contest.

Metephoric masterpiece. Wonderfully done and straight to the heart without even using the words of complete directness. Beautiful!!!!!!
Thanks for entering and good luck! -
I think this is beautiful, but can't tell which pic you have chosen. Is it by chance #2? That's the only one with a pic of the ocean..I forgot to ask people to put that in the author's notes..now I'm having a hard time judging. LOL

You've expertly captured that feeling of "Now what?", that inability to make up one's mind and continue to proceed in life. I absolutely adore the vocabulary you've used here: "opulence", "introspection", enticing", etc. Your imagery is beautiful, gentle, and makes me think of a warm wind blowing leaves, or in this case, decisions, in all directions.
You have a lot of unnecessary commas that crowd up your thoughts and make your ideas difficult to follow occasionally, but all in all, this was a spectacular write. Thanks for entering my contest! -
Very well done. You really captured that feeling of indecisiveness, should I leave the safety of what is known for the mystery on the horizon. I enjoyed this very much.
~ Good luck!
