In Your Service

when I am alone
contemplating myself
I see little more
than a confused boy

when I am with you
in your service
I am magnificent

meeting every challenge

the perfect intellect

is not enough

yet your wounded heart

has the power

I will learn this

most beautiful lesson

and let you

carry me

for now I know

that the difference is you

and I cherish you

now and always

    Touching!

Something you said to the perfect lady. So beautiful. We look at ourselves with confusion. Yet through "her eyes" when she looks as you.... WOW! You feel like you can do anything! Cherish it my friend! Bravo!

Why I believe you have said a mouthful, Reuben. Even better is the feeling that when she looks at you, and you see yourself through your own eyes as you see her. Thanks for being there.

This piece does everything a poem should do. It gave me insight into you the poet; apparently the “bastard” facade is a front.

It used vivid imagery to show the connection between the physical and the emotional and it is done with style and form. The verbiage is well chosen allowing for the words to fall off my lips and seep into my heart. Well done.
