Please don't celebrate my Birthday

Let's face it; I'm a self centered, egotistical jerk.
People will get hurt.
Even if I try to avoid it, people get hurt.

Let's take the day I was born for example.
There are people who want to celebrate it.
Why? I don't know, but they do.

I say don't; let's avoid the inevitable hurt and fuss,
But they do and I get hurt;
They don't and they are hurt.

So, I say, fine if you're going to be hurt, then by all means do what you wish,
But don't surprise me. I don't like that.
So they try to surprise me. They get hurt; I get hurt.

I go away to another state and I'm very happy.
The one's I'm going to visit are happy until
Someone asks why and says that they are hurt because I'm leaving.

My family celebrates it; my friends are left out.
My friends celebrate it; my family is left out.
They try to do it together and still people are left out.

Is there a solution? Is there a way out?
I say, “no” people will get hurt
Especially with a self centered, egotistical jerk like me
and you.
