~She Dreams~

I lay down my weary head
for just a moment’s rest,
to take a little break from
studying this test.

I gently close my eyes
and float right off, it seems.
I'm feel that I am high,
soaring in my dreams.

I sail through fluffy clouds,
across the azure sky,
I am an airplane pilot,
watch me as I fly!

I want to see the world,
travel from end to end,
experience new things,
meet new people, make new friends.

The others tell me not to
think that this could be,
for only boys can fly those
airplanes that I see.

They say that I must learn to
assume the lady’s role.
A woman can not pilot,
these dreams will take their toll.

I must beg to differ,
I know that I am smart,
so watch me as I fly,
I’m Amelia Earhart!

    Dream a dream or two...

You really know how to make me smile and this piece is no exception

Dreams are surely worth their weight in gold, especially to a child, their future relies on it ...and who says women can't fly airplanes, before long we will see them up there in our skies in charge of the big silver birds...

A most delightful dreamy write, another one that is just perfect for childrens poetry

    Love and smiles

Lori this was such a wonderful poem! You captured the spirit of Amelia Earhart perfectly! I would imagine she must have dreamt like that. Your poem was a perfect match for the picture and quite an original idea! It flowed almost like a nighttime prayer. I enjoyed this from start to finish! Great write Lori!
