those always-happy zanes who flaunt away belongings...
How they've got it all miserable,
you Will learn,
in Time...
you're suspended there, in those thoughts,
stuck in the suicidal past
and the abysmal future.
Who's got the core,
the Ian, the zen,
the trash and the can,
the fish or, the Jack Frost and the javelin,
the acrid hats,
the flog and the quartz,
the hush puppies,
the quiet peace, ease of urine samples
to pay out the flies,
and the god Oden
for the knight trusting
hades' empty leaves
of cactii and futile cigarettes.
So who wants to practice suicide
while we wait to be great?
Not me and you stay far from.
There are those to never found a thought around,
those always-lonely luckless with too much to achieve
and the only way to go is down.
Down, subdued to you. Settle to her, descend to him, cascade to that, float to this...
Author notes
The strange middle stanza has to do with street substances, and is explained thus:
Who's got the core- alcohol, the core of drugs
the Ian- represents "the E and"; i.e., mdma
the zen- represents marijuana
these lines also write, 'who's got the korean zen' and refer to myself as I have found my ink drawings to be strangely korean in their stylings.
the trash and the can, -the junk and the needle
the fish or, -Crack (the fissure)
the Jack Frost and the javelin, -cocaine and needle
the acrid hats, -acrid, acidic; acid, hats, caps, mushrooms
the flog -refers to the band 'flogging molly'; Molly (pure form of MDMA)
and the quartz, -crystals; Methamphetamines
the hush puppies, -hash browns; Hashish
the quiet peace, ease of urine samples -complex line. peace refers to hippies, pipes... peace. Ease of urine obviously refers to relaxing urination and drug testing but also pcp (peace ease pee), and "urine samples" ties the next line in:
to pay out the flies, -pay out refers to peyote, and the flies refer to the fly alargic mushroom. this relates to the previous line as some drink their urine after eating these mushrooms to hallucinate again.
and the god Oden -oden, O-den; opium den. "god" because this is thought to be one the of the earliest drugs: a god is a creator, opium created drug culture.
for the knight trusting -nitrous
hades empty leaves -from personal experience, how one feels when in the void of marijuana- also haDe's eMpTy leaves; DMT: the drug from hell.
of cactii and futile cigarettes. -mescal and tobacco.
The entire poem is not about drugs. It's about people's outer and inner personalities and time. The secret here is that I hate drugs, and that I'm not always happy. Also that if you feel that you need drugs your thoughts are too far stuck in the past or the future.

This really reminds me of the quote: Novus Opiate Seclorum. (The new opium for the ages) Like...You've summed up what the heck is wrong with the world in a few lines. That's really cool of you.
Love,
