Teal

dark sullen eyes hide behind cold rimmed glasses
they melt into the pupils, and hide feeling
empty eyes dancing behind painted eyelids
blinking ever so slightly, afraid they’ll miss the big picture.

behind the mask of denial is the cold shape of grief
torn with loss and unhappiness
medical artistry decorated with Christmas lights
enjoy your shopping at Wall-mart.

and when the cashiers ask you how you are,
you turn to them with that depth in your eyes and tell them that they don’t even want to know.

fragile limbs hang loosely on joints,
swinging with utter grace, whispering your name in foreign languages
and flowers bloom from your hair, illuminating the world with sheer

everything.

because the everything that you are is double sided and schizophrenic.
Clinging to it’s multiple personalities and characteristics.

when your skin is cut so deep that the wrinkles tear into the soft beauty of spring,
you know that the bad has been washed away by the prairie side and melodic rhythm of waves crashing and stirring and living and roaring and breathing.

and sand feeling it’s way onto wet skin, into the ocean to never be seen again besides in dreams and infinite realities where Disney movies are made.

enjoy the holidays.
because material things combined with the real world are an apathetic mix of children’s humour and poetic thought.
