Oh, give me not roses all sparkling with dew,
For flowers soon wither away;
Nor give me bright jewels with their dazzling hues,
For their glitter will soften and fade.
And give me not words of whose worth you know naught,
For sentiments change with the day;
Just give me a love that could never be bought,
And promise forever to stay.
For flowers soon wither away;
Nor give me bright jewels with their dazzling hues,
For their glitter will soften and fade.
And give me not words of whose worth you know naught,
For sentiments change with the day;
Just give me a love that could never be bought,
And promise forever to stay.
Author notes
The first two lines came into my mind while driving home from school today, and the rest quickly followed. Just a little piece about a thought that came to me while reading some of Nora Roberts' books.

Beautiful, two :F:F way up
Beautiful and gracefully written as always my beautiful friend
I have not the words to say for the emotion this poem encaptures. Amazing, this poem has somehow taken my breath away, perhaps It's just the mood I'm in at the moment, but I doubt that.
