Like the rosebud preparing to bloom
Like the Sun as it banishes gloom
Like the bird that flies in the sky
Like the wind that blows with a sigh
With lips that blush pink to red
With the eyes of a child in her head
With a heart as pure as fresh snow
With a mind that has much more to know
She's a child becoming a Woman
She's the reason that we are all human
She's the loveliest person I know
She's the one with furthest to go!
Like the Sun as it banishes gloom
Like the bird that flies in the sky
Like the wind that blows with a sigh
With lips that blush pink to red
With the eyes of a child in her head
With a heart as pure as fresh snow
With a mind that has much more to know
She's a child becoming a Woman
She's the reason that we are all human
She's the loveliest person I know
She's the one with furthest to go!

Thank you
Thank you for commenting on my write...the image used in this contest inspired me to write about the transition from childhood to womanhood and is based on a wide variety of females who have impacted my life...from my 7 sisters and my Mum and Granny...to my own daughters and ex wives..to Women I have loved in the past and those I have yet to meet!...all are in part responsible for it!..Im pleased you liked it...Thank you...Dan x

A masterpiece!
Awesomely beautiful poem about the blossoming of a woman! Hear, hear for men that appreciate the many wonderful qualities of a woman, you have much to be respected.

Thank you
The major influences in my life came from Women...my Mum and my Granny were the two most significant persons in my life...they taught me through their actions and loving kindness to love and respect all women...in my view the world would be a much happier place if it was ruled by Women!....Thank you for your valued remarks..but a masterpiece?...no I dont think I am capable of that yet!...my respect and regards Dan xx

Full of rare beauty
I love this poem,It made me think of the story the "ugly duckling" The young woman is not what most see as beautiful at first glance. How ever the longer you gaze upon the photo the more beautiful she is, it is an inner beauty that shines from within, and you my friend bring out her beauty with you most elegant words.

Thanks Kathy
Many people...and young girls especially ...seem to go through a period in life thinking they are somehow 'too ugly' or 'not good enough' to be involved in the normal activities of everyday life...the truth of the matter is they lack confidence in themselves and their abilities...its only when we learn to accept and like ourselves that we begin to be accepted and liked by others...Again my thanks for your remarks and encouragement Kathy...Love Dan xxx

Again I am stuck for words...how does anyone respond to such a comment as this...your appreciation of my writes encourages me so much to push myself that much further towards writing something of true worth...if not for comments such as this I think I would have lost interest!
To say I admire and respect you is nothing less than an understatement!...Love and best wishes...Dan xxx

Thanks babygirl!
Thanks Karen...as the father of 2 daughters and 3 sons in real life..I know and understand the way kids think...especially my daughters who have always come to me with their problems rather than their Mum as she was not interested in helping deal with them..once they started growing into young women I think their Mum became unable to cope them as young adults and preferred them as children...I took on the role of both parents and guided them as best I could..they seem to be doing ok anyway!...thanks for the generosity of your comments..as always I send my love...Dad xxx

Thank you
Thank you so much Lisa!...the picture is the one used in the contest..perhaps of the person who is holding it?...notes about the picture mentioned that the young girl in the image was not beautiful!..I disagreed with that statement and wanted to say so by way of this poem..I hope I succeeded!...regards Dan xx

This is just delightful to read, such truth you speak, a child has such a long journey yet we would be so lucky to have some of their wisdom, for they are not tainted yet with adult thoughts, leaving innocence to bloom. Great write my friend.

Thank you fire!
Again you level praise upon my write and again a smile plays across my lips and a warm glow touches my soul!...the power we humans have is awesome in its complexity and incredible because of its simplicity!..the merest word or gesture carries such immense authority and can crush or lift up the recipient..personally I prefer the latter...and I am so fortunate with those...like youself who offer such amazing words of encouragement...Thank you...Dan xxx
