A million other times, I had touched her
wiped a tear from her rosey little cheeks
held her in my arms and stroked her baby fine hair
kissed each one of her perfect, tiny fingers
But this time, the exchange was different
her delicate, weak fingers, curled around, grasping one of mine
stroking the back of her palm, so soft and warm
I knew I had to savor this moment, it's one I'd never have again
Holding her fragile body, so close to my own
I feel the line blurred, from where she ends and I begin
she is the most important part of me, it's too soon to let go
kissing her beautiful nose, her eyes, her cheeks, one last touch
One last kiss, one more forever moment is all I need
when my lips touch her skin, my whole body shakes
my heart, breaking in my chest, tears, burning down my face
my Angel takes a deep labored breath, as she fades away from me
Forever.

life is full of heartaches, the most horrific loss, is that of a mother, when she holds her child for the last time.
