Homage to Garuda, the Chickadee (Metered Mirror-Rhyme)

Missing image
When lost in loneliness I’d been
For no one understood my soul
When only clouds of grey were seen
And darkened thoughts soared with no goal

When no more to this earth I clasped
And no distraction pleased my heart
The sense of life I had not grasped
When joy appeared an unknown art

T’was then you entered in my life
On angel’s wings so pure, so bright
Relieving suff’ring heart from strife
And rendering my burden light

Your gift was joy and playfulness
The present moment was your guide
To secret door to happiness
The key did in my heart abide

You entered it and showed the way
To free my tortured, weary mind
From past which on my soul did weigh
True liberation I would find

You showed me how to speak the truth
With faith and with simplicity
I learned with speech despair to soothe
Recovering integrity

I thank you so, my precious friend
Dear guide within the darkened night
My deepest love to you I send
Oh angel of most gracious light

***

Oh angel of most gracious light
My deepest love to you I send
Dear guide within the darkened night
I thank you so, my precious friend

Recovering integrity
I learned with speech despair to soothe
With faith and with simplicity
You showed me how to speak the truth

True liberation I would find
From past which on my soul did weigh
To free my tortured, weary mind
You entered it and showed the way

The key did in my heart abide
To secret door to happiness
The present moment was your guide

And no distraction pleased my heart
When no more to this earth I clasped

And darkened thoughts soared with no goal
When only clouds of grey were seen
For no one understood my soul
When lost in loneliness I’d been

  • Great!
  • (Metered Mirror-Rhyme)- that is very neat. Beautiful words too, about how your sweet little bird brought such joy and redemption into your life. Isn't it amazing how the smallest, most seemingly simple things in life can be such a gift? And all we have to do is receive it. This is such a precious write. I know how you feel. I have relationships with my pets like this as well.

Birds are such a delight. I haven't had a pet bird for a while. I would like to get a pair of Turtle Doves, or Homing Pigeons. The wild birds in my yard are very tame because I have a bird-feeder and pond out there that they enjoy. They are a pleasure to observe and they truly brighten my days.

    Thank you for sharing this lovely poem about your beloved pet bird. I loved this stanza;

"I thank you so, my precious friend
Dear guide within the darkened night
My deepest love to you I send
Oh angel of most gracious light"

I enjoyed all of it very much! The photo and the background graphics are very nice also.

I will never cease being amazed at the beauty of your mind, at the wisdow that you so briliantly put in poetical form.
The poem is so pleasant to read and to contemplate about - light like a feather! It made think of spring and of blue skies. I know it is kind of far off the topic - but the words are so sincere and pure that I really have no choice. Besides outside my window it looks like spring: the sun is just blinding and tiny sparrows had materialized out of nowhere.
The picture is so cute! I wonder may be it was her that whispered the verses into your ear, dear maa?!
    Good luck in the contest!

      thank you aleksandra

thank you so much, dear aleksandra, for your sweet words ... indeed, you are right : while I wrote this poem, garuda sat on my arm inspiring me the words ... ... and you are right about the spring and blue skies as well : the sky was blue when I wrote the poem, and the mimosas are blooming like crazy !
thank you for your presence, my sweet friend,

      maa

      so far for the anonymity

oops, just realized that you probably would have liked your contestants to stay anonymous ... I guess I messed it up for this time ... beginner's mistake ...
I was actually not sure if my poem would fit the contest, since I actually wrote about the actual bird ... garuda seems to like her poem, she's hopping on and off the computer ...
      eagerly waiting for the surprise

      enjoy your contest, blessed lady
