Long ago,
before grass and flowers and butterflies,
before dinosaurs,
when creator united all randomly laid water puddles and ponds and plashets
into the ocean of life,
so many days of hard work
yet...
something was still missing,
he knew.
Love.
He took a piece of his heart,
found the best, clearest water,
and placed it there
kissing it once,
then couldn't resist
and kissed it again.
Each warm kiss permeating the dark, red piece,
infusing new life,
growing,
expanding,
a pulsating new heart surrounded with bubbles of oxygen,
the urge so strong, the need...
the new creation exploded
its two parts forever connected with the breath of love.
They weren't born the same day.
Twins?
Floating together, reaching towards each other with new tentacles
(it wasn't enough... it wasn't enough of them... just four, just four...)
touching slowly, one by one,
nibbling on them with sharp teeth,
kissing one by one,
crawling inside each other's skin,
searching and sipping their jelly entrails,
swimming, moving in circles,
coming closer and closer, forever just one,
always young.
Their shivers heated the water
and the water boiled,
and the first clouds washed over barren land
and the first rainbow bridged skies to earth over cascading waterfalls
and butterflies stole rainbow colors to paint their wings
sipping sweet nectar from the first poppy blooming on a shore
and the new born he spread his tentacles towards the new born she
creating a new Universe
just for
them.

Beautiful. Very different than I expected from seeing the title... just touching and lovely.

Thank you TJ for visiting my site and poetry. Yes, I know that title could confuse. This is like a book - don't judge it when you see it's cover - and this time you didn't. Thanks again.

wow that was such an imaginative and creative piece. wonderful turn of the creation story. i really loved it. you capture all the love and tenderness that is often forgotten in tales of creation. it was like someone nuturing a child. wonderful.
i loved:
"He took a piece of his heart,
found the best, clearest water,
and placed it there
kissing it once,
then couldn't resist
and kissed it again."
It makes Him very human and is such a lovely image. Thank you for sharing this with us and keep up the great writing.
