Good Night My Love

Good Night My Love

My darling,
I have been thinking of you
Thinking of you a lot these days,
dreaming of your kiss,
and holding you.

I want to wish you
pleasant dreams,
and a sunny day tomorrow.

Good night my love.

May God watch over you,
and keep you
in the palm of his hand
cupped in warmth
and tender dreams.

May you dream
of our love and embrace,
and wake to a blessed
sunny  sunrise which fills you
with hope and love for all.

Good night my love.
Know that I am yours always, Bob

Funny how I came to visit you and opened this particular poem, not realizing I had already commented. This reads as tender and soft as it did the first time. It just leaves you with a hopeful sigh. One that you find yourself wishing that one day it would be the reader receiving such loving and heartfelt words to take with her dreams. Surely the dreams would be as soft, and surely the sun would shine brightly in the morning.

Oh my gosh! This is such a romantic and pretty poem. It's something that I could read over and over again and just sigh thinking about the gentle words and the whole story of it.
What a wonderful wish for your loved one; to wake in the presence of a nice and warm sunny day!
    I especially like:

    "I want to wish you
    pleasant dreams,
    and a sunny day tomorrow."

    "May God watch over you,
    and keep you
in the palm of his hand
    cupped in warmth
    and tender dreams."

Dang, you have a nice write here!

    Lovely!

This is beautiful and gentle in the wish of a goodnight to one you love.It has a lovely flow to it,and I enjoy the wish for "God to watch over you,and keep you in the palm of his hand cupped in warmth and tender dreams". How much more tender can one be in words spoken so lovingly!.I can hear a tune going in the back of my mind, never heard before..A tune for a love song...This is beyond description, this poem, because one can feel your heart all through! The imagery, and passion all the way to the last word! Masterpiece!

    Hi Bob,

I can so easily picture this being written and placed on a pillow or nightstand, or tucked into some lovely lady's pocket to read before going to sleep at night. Parts of it read like that, and other parts of it read like a prayer offered at the end of day. Beautiful work, and very romantic.

If you were to revise anything in this, I'd suggest one of these...

    "I want to wish you
    pleasant dreams,
    and a sunny day tomorrow."

    or

    "and wake to a blessed
    sunny sunrise which fills you"

both of those basically say the same thing and the repetition doesn't work IMO in a shorter poem like this is. The bottom one could easily be taken out, as in:

    “May you dream
    of our love and embrace,
and wake to a blessed day filled
with hope and love for all.”

Or something to that effect. As always, just a suggestion.

I know Rick is supposed to be the romantic genius in poetry, but I do believe you've got more than a foot in the door yourself. Hopefully there's a lucky lady somewhere out there appreciating these beautiful expressions of love that flow from your pen.

    Much love,
    ~J.
    P.S. Nice new pic!

    Excellent x 2

    One of your best
layed out in a form I use often
that pauses the reader, and adds weight to the words

    Love the words here
    Just beautifull words

    Like this

    May you dream
    of our love and embrace,
    and wake to a blessed
    sunny sunrise which fills you
with hope and love for all.

    Good night my love.
Know that I am yours always, Bob

Tender, soft, almost as if you are sending these words along with the fading sun to your love...Words any woman would pray to hear at least once in her lifetime.
    Beautiful work. Love, Lane

First, Is this photo yours? Cause this is one beautiful picture!! I love how the person is siloetted here. Second, my friend, poetry such as this should be alone in a field of its own. So that the reader may drink in everysingle word. A tip: When posting put the cursor at the last word of your last line. Hit the enter key about 4 X's. This pulls the comment section away from your work. There by giving it the feeling of the words free floating on the page. ~~~ now...

Bob, this is gorgeous! Sooooooo romantic and tender! What a very lucky lady to recieve this. I'm sure you make everyday feel like Valentine's Day. A beautiful, beautiful soul...its such a pleasure to read warm thoughts and wishes such as this. Thank you for sharing.
