Alchohalic dad

I see the empty bottle by your side
I smell the alchohal on yout breath
You promised that you would try to stop
Before it caused your own death

You go ang get another one
And you say it will be the last
You try yo drink it slowly
But somehow it goes down fast

If you only knew what you were missing
Without that bottle in your hand
Maybe you would stop it all
And do what we had planned

Your days have been numbered
You never stopped like you said
Everyone will miss you dad
Since now you are dead.

    Awwww So Sad

very truthfully written,I have plenty of relative that are alcoholics and they won't even see what it will do to them, for we had an uncle that died from bone cancer that was formed from being an alcoholic, drying up his blood cells, killing his liver.Brought on something much worse.I hope that people read your very sad write and begin to get a clue as to what alcohol will do to them.I am in fact an ex-alcoholic and so is my husband.God helps us with it always.
You have written this very well indeed.
    Blessings to you
    ~Cheryl~

    Sadly True

This message that you are conveying is so true and heartfelt. Someone very close to me has the same addiction. I can tell you wrote this poem with your whole heart. All we can do is love the person and hate the addiction. I'll keep you in my heart and prayers.

Wow... this was really amazing in a sad and eye-opening way. It really sucks when there's people with addictions in one's life, especially loved ones. I've been on both sides so I know the struggle of stopping the use of mind-altering substances and the pain when you see someone losing their life by drinking or drugging it away.. This was an intense topic and I think you delivered your thoughts and feelings about it well. The only thing I would do is revise the spelling but other than that, your work was great. Good job, keep on writing

So many can relate to this - the death of a loved on due to alcoholism. the havoc one who drinks causes to family and friends, at work place and at home is mind boggling. Sorry about the loss, and about the life you had to bear because of alcohol. (Check spelling of alcohol and of and in first line of second verse) I wrote a poem about this too called Loving a Drunk.

oh my god as i sit her and try to reply back to you i have to wipe the tears from my eyes. I know as i set here my children have felt that pain and all i can tell you is dont think that someone with an addiction doesnt love you its just not everyone can get the help or accept it when they need it most. The next time you feel the rain on your cheek just know its someone up above saying they are sorry and they love you. please keep in touch with me and i absolutely love you poem

thanks for the comment!! You made me cry. I wrote the poem about a few days ago and i thought that it sucked. And i know that it would be wrong for me to hate my dad for his problem but it just sucks everytime i go and visit with my 6 month old he has a beer in his hand. Thanks again for the comment i can't thank you enough!!

A very sad and moving poem. I'm happy I never had to deal with a situation like this, but this poem does an excellent job converying some of the desperation and sadness a situation like this must be like.
