Prayer-Passing - Gold

Missing image
You asked me for a poem
to fly to where you are.
I let the eagle loose
from the strap that held him down.

Have you seen it, gathering
strong sticks and phrases
while it waited for cracking eggs?

Did you see it, on strident wings,
rise so high we could no longer see it?

God did.  He waited for it to light
on his hand and whispered
sacred songs to it,
let it fall free back to me,
and I sent him on to you.

It swooped and put our prayers
and my poem, on your hand.

Author notes

they are the immortal birds...

Have you seen birds
flying?

Flying towards the end of the sky
where God lives

which birds are they how can, they fly so high?
And what they mean to go to the God?

Do you know

let me tell you
about these birds

they are birds coming from the hearts of yours
as words when you pray to God

our prayer's words are turned into the birds
and fly towards the God ...You know

they are the immortal birds
carrying your messages to the almighty
all the messages which you send while facing the problems
over this Earth time and time again

don't forget to fly these
birds by the means of prayer words of yours
they all are the saviors as well

amen......

It is part of my belief, as a native american, that the eagle does, indeed fly up closes to creator's ear and mouth. Thank you for your kind comment.

Carol . . . wonderful, wonderful, wonderful . . . unfortunately up here on the West Coast a small group of misguided natives were murdering this most sacred of birds and selling their talons for profit. It saddened me to hear of this, because I have learned so much through my studies of Native American culture.

Yes, I have heard through the smoke signals that such was happening. They were charged, were they not? We were told to gather our own and not purchase them from people we do not know. We can get them from fish and game if we must.
