Piano Man

Missing image

Play me a song,
a sad love song
Let your keys
tap a tune
that will heal my heart
It's broken, you know

Play me a song,
that I have never heard,
so it doesn't spark a memory
I miss him, you know

Play me a song,
that won't make me cry
I've been crying since he left, you know

Play me a song,
I'm not tempted to sing
My lips are numb, you know

Play me a song,
that will soothe my soul
It's an empty shell, you know

Play me a song,
that will bring him back
I love him, you know

Your playing is the only
thing that helps to heal
the pain
I'll be back again tomorrow,
but I already think you know

In a list

Please tell me what you think

    True insight

wow...i envision an old balck and white Bette Davis movie...you have done well with your words on this one..capturing heartfelt emotion, dripped in sadness but knowing she must go through it...awesome job !!!

    Very thoughtful, very Soulful

The thoughts and feelings of someone attempting to regain feeling after the loss of somthing. These thoughts seem to be the first steps forward.

Oh, what an evocative write, my friend. I see msyelf sitting in the shadows of a darkened corner, sucking on a double double of bailey's and peppermint schnapps, tall, with milk...toyign with a tall stir stick to click the ice cubes so they don't hurt my teeth...

    mmmmmmmmm, good one...

    BEAUTIFUL AND HEARTFELT

Wow Soulful Woman, Your poem is very heartfelt. Speaks of a broken heart that hopes to mend by the piano music. Music does make our minds wander back to the happier times. It also reminds us of the sad ones. Wonderful poem you have written. Take care, Sandy

    Sadly Romantic

You have penned this write well. The emotion and imagery drifts into the reader from the start. I have been to the piano bar(alone)and know the feelings there. The ending was perfectmaking this poem a wonderful read. Thanks for sharing, Don

How the plaintive notes on a piano can bring about sadness and longing in a person, especially one missing someone so much. I wish I had kept up my practice for I still love to hear the piano played and you are right we do keep going back to hear the pianoman. Lovely.
