The Class
With a rosy cheek and smiling face
and parallel fingers
with smokestack gently held in place
the flowing black ocean
sheening in the quiet sunshine
yet
Somewhere exceedingly,
hauntingly
close--
hissing,
clawing tendrils ate at
inner human flesh,
gorging
on a throat;
rasping down a breached and bleeding,
fickle, haunting, cracked, and opened,
pillar of
delicate skin-
death approaching,
tearing, with a crass demeanor,
gnashing at the choicest parts-
then latching to the sticky oozing,
clinging (burnt asunder) to the
tiny shred of half-life, gripping
tortured skin in thin attempts
and clawing, piercing, forming, clotting,
raging in a black and carpal fury-
latching on in parasitic need
and forming tiny boneyard kingdoms
inside this sack of living crust;
then sucked back out in gusts of hostile wind
to open scars anew-
crass,
gnashing,
once again-
as the lips form a perfect 'o' and blow the smoke back out.

Unique
Very very unique. I find the poem great but the spacing is just way out there. I almost disqualified you because the poem said 56 lines.. but I counted the lines in which you wrote, and you are under the 40 line mark. Thanks for entering the contest and the best of luck to you. Kassie -
