In the middle of the forest, stands two great trees
Taller than the rest, and much greener the leaves
Looking down on the others, with grace and pride
Being the king and queen, they take in their stride
They are envied by the others, of that I'm sure
But sick in their heart, for which, there is no cure
As time moves on, their bark will crack
Since statistics have said, that is a proven fact
But wait, they have one fear, the sound in the forest
When the lumberjack, comes walking near
The lumberjack is admired, in his hazardous employ
He has the strength and the axe, to completely destroy
He searches through the forest, for that is his job
And the beauty of the trees, he soon will rob
He slowly treads along, and carefully looks around
Suddenly he stops, the king and queen he has found
It's the queen of the trees, he will chop away
Leaving only a stump, in the forest to stay
The king looks down, feeling ever so low
Taking the queen away, was a terrible blow
Since the king stands alone, he doesn't look the same
For without the queen, he has lost his fame
Now the bark is cracking, so horribly fast
The leaves are dying, he cannot last
The caretaker comes around, shocked by the sight
For the king is now, a terrible fright
The caretaker has decided, he shall be cut down
The king is now gone, only a stump can be found
We now have two stumps, standing close together
Shadowed by the trees, aged by the weather
They now gather beauty, as time passes on
Especially with the dew, at the break of dawn
The lumberjack returns, to cut the remainder of the trees
For in their midst, spreads a contagious disease
There now is no forest, just a field full of stumps
But the kink and queen are out of the dumps
Now under the sun, all is secure an serene
For they now have, their beautiful king and queen
3 old applause
