When continents split and man was caught
on one side or the other, never again, any satisfaction.
Suddenly, the awareness of ownership.
I shall own this place where I hunt.
I shall own these trees around me.
I shall own the beasts in this area.
I shall own this woman, this man.
These new beginnings were bad;
very, very bad.
I pushed through life, and landed
on the wrong side of the moon.
I wanted the sun, not its occasional reflection.
I wanted the stars, the planets.
I wanted the slack Universe to tighten up.
I wanted more light.
I set about to be someone’s hope.
The new beginning was bad;
very, very bad.
I passed by congregations
lining polished pews.
I wanted fire on those burning plains.
I wanted to huddle by myself in a lodge.
I wanted the pine-bough droplets to cleanse me.
I wanted that voice that did not need a microphone.
The endings were bad;
very, very bad.
Now, every land is foreign.
No man here is kin to me.
I pinned a promise to black velvet night.
I pushed all my pretentious posies away.
I reinvented myself to fit similar molds.
I made masks of touch tree bark.
The endings were bad;
very, very bad.
We are split, grounded, passed by,
and strangers to everything and everyone, but you.
You alone own every new starts.
You alone give light and love.
You alone whisper to the listeners.
You alone promise
good endings of bad things.

Such a great message with metaphors that pull me in. Imagery is great. Well done. Keep them coming and blessed be.

Well my sister, you have done it again. This blew me away. You know your people and you honor them when you write for and about them. I honor you my friend for the years we have taught each other. This was a most powerful write and one that needed to be done.
