The True Nature of Abundance

Love has many faces.

the obvious ones might be
physical and sexual attraction,
common interests
and a host of other aspects
that might be described as
personality and
lifestyle choices

these are fundamentals to be sure,
however
I believe
catalysing,
successfully melding,
these elements
into that compound we call love,
requires
deep, heartfelt mutual trust
and respect
encompassing
unwavering desires
supporting each other’s evolution

to embrace and promote
mutual personal and spiritual growth,
the manifestation of all the potential
that lies dormant within,
I believe
is the key

I believe in fidelity.

I believe
that a relationship
is always
a “work in progress”

success is merely
a retrospective snapshot
of a moment,
or series of moments.

real success,
with passion enduring,
is the ability and aspiration
to go the distance

I believe
our soul is
an overflowing well of love,
vanquishing
the many faces of fear,
once we learn
to dwell there

I believe
we have an infinite capacity
to love
and when we learn
to come from that place,
as opposed to the place of fear
we will know
the true nature of abundance

Author notes

As much as many of us swear to remain single and perhaps celibate, the reality is that the perplexing riddle of love continues to roost in our hungry hearts. Relationships being what they are, with more permutations than Rubik’s cube defy a single definitive rule for success. My take on this is that instead of focusing on “love” we perhaps should zero in on fear, that flip side of the coin that continually bushwhacks us when we aren’t paying attention. Nothing is simple yet everything is; it’s how we perceive it that decides which it is. So from the comfort of my armchair here is my take on all that.

amen. and constancy...which you most certainly do practise, H...and which i will always respect ~

i quite like the style you used in this piece, i like the absence of rhyme because the message is delivered like a shot from the hip, which is of course, and as ever, one of the things that i most appreciate about you...

    best regards from Ottawa,

    Bon

Love definitely takes some work...and it has to be on the part of both parties, not just one..some tend to think that once you have love, you no longer have to put any effort into the relationship and that can't be further from the truth...we do have to support and respect each other's evolution..and grow together...when love is treated with respect, there IS much abundance!!!! Very wise words Henri..an excellent write!!!!

Your work here is almost like a blueprint for a good life, its something that I would put on my author's page as a credo, a pledge, a promise to those I touch somehow, and something I would try so hard to live by. It all seems simple somehow, the way it flows so fluidly and you have stated it as matter of fact which is what makes it so profound to me. This is a remarkable work that does much to start off my day, and for that I bow to you. I would want to read it often, as a reminder of those things that are most important. You make beautiful music indeed.

Sometimes I feel that the search (desire) for love is...like the search for the 'perfect' metaphor..the one that can't go wrong...
your words resound with much sweetness (and melancholy)...
    thank you,
    Maria

I don't have the original to compare with but I do think it is
better now that you worked around those single line conjunctions!
On reading it again I found even more things that caught my eye
I am flattered you have used my suggestions

    \"My\" poetry!

    Ah Henry!

Love is the very essence of God Creator and thus we may become owners of Love's perfection. As your title, a poem in itself, stated: The True Nature of Abundance. One cannot be impoverished by anything internally or externally when possessing the All of Love. It is free, it is empowering, it is a Universe of Discoveries.

    You've said it so well:

    "to embrace and promote
    mutual personal and spiritual growth"

This will lead to all other enhancements ... and ecstatic unification on all levels.

    Thank you.

    Myra

I found your thoughts to be very deep...tells alot about you as a person,character..once again found myself thinking about the words you wrote... I believe
    we have an infinite capacity
    to love
    and when we learn
    to come from that place
as opposed to the place of fear
    we will know
the true nature of abundance ...

That being something that struck me ,excellent...Kimberly

    Will you marry me? (haha)

This is romantic and true all at the same time! The basics are fine, but nothing without everything you've described here!

    "success is merely
    a retrospective snapshot
    of a moment
    or series of moments.

    real success,
    with passion enduring,
    is the ability and aspiration
    to go the distance"

Yes, Yes, YES!! I love this! Marvelous write!

What a wondeful work full with such truths. Some I have discovered
already, and some I guess I will meet along the way ;)I löved the
voice you used in this one. I only have 2 small suggestions; in
    this line

    "the catalyst
    that
    successfully melds these elements "

I'd remove 'that' altogether, and change the following line into
something like "successfully melding these elements. Also here

    "an overflowing well of love
    and
only when we dwell there "

I'd remove the 'and', to be replaced by a comma after 'love' on
the previous line. 'and' and 'that' are not words you need to
lift the piece, plus by letting them stay on their own line
puts them in focus and attaches weight to them.

This is just minor details though. Lovely poem Henri!

so many things in life bring us to dwell in a place of fear, but to retain the capacity to love in spite of that fear, shows, I believe, the true nature of abundance.

Looking at the whole of this, Henri, your insight amazes me. A committed relationship takes so much work. It truly is a work in progress. The part that really stood out in my eyes (today, at least)is that it
    "requires
    deep heartfelt mutual trust
    and respect
    encompassing
    unwaivering desires
    supporting each others evolution"

Our Trust being at the root of wanting them to flourish, to grow, to become all they can. And it being their wish for us. Leaves no room for the petty jealousies, and selfishness that can so easily rear it's head.

I know that when I read it again, another point will jump out at me. It will be the lesson I need for that time.

Thank you, Henri, for sharing such deep insights. You lit my path, made it a little brighter. Helped me to see things a little clearer.

Henri- I agree with al ot of what you say... but these lines hit the nail on the head (for me, anyways):

    "I believe in fidelity.
    I believe
    that a relationship
    is always
    a “work in progress"

A friend of ours thinks my husband & I have sorted "everything out" in our relationship, and are now coasting on cruise control... you should have seen the look on his face when we told him we are constantly working at our marriage... he has no concept... Anyway, sorry for rambling... Excellent write, Henri - you make some powerful observations and statements. Thank you - Helen.

armchair huh? thank god you didnt say rocker LMAO.. hee hee..

    Love is a seed
    stored in the honeycomb
    of this maiden

    eager for collisions
    rounded by sleeps
    smothers the rage within

    stashed in a music box
    it will play
    in the arrivals or departures
    of geographies

"Perfect love casts out fear." That sums it up for me. I agree with your creed, Henri. An interesting older movie, if you haven't seen it yet, is "Defending Your Life". The movie is based on this premise..."After a person dies, they are judged worthy of going to heaven based on the fears they were able to overcome."

Great poem...you're definitely on the right track!
