Smile high, the world fades with you
You hide behind your habits
But openly display your insecurities
You have no self-esteem
You have other’s esteem
You’re only okay when people hand-feed you praise.

Reread the old poetry, the words surround you
You’re not the same as you used to be
But you’re still not fully healed
Your trust in people is cautious
Almost to the point of paranoia
You still shatter when they surround you

Sleep and fall, the nightmares penetrate you
You focus on the things you’ve done wrong
But ignore the things you do right
You disagree with positive statements
You think you’ve got nothing good to say
You still say everything because you don’t want to be alone.

Step back, watch the city crumble
You revert to old survival tactics
But they deteriorate your health
You feel guilty and disgusted
You go further back in time
You’re reversing by trying not to reverse

Step out, the eyes are blind
You hear the words they say
But for once, you’re listening
You digest the suggestions
You distinguish the flaws
You’re thinking too much about thinking about it.

Smile high, the lines are fading
Reread the old poetry, you’re due for escaping
Sleep and fall, but stand back up
Step back, you’re strong enough
Step out, but run back in
Reverse the decay, no reverse evolution again.
