Who is the watcher?

If all is lost upon the seas ,
of ever lasting tide.
Where is he that churns the waves,
or does this vast moon hide?

Upon a birth a star is born
it glistens in the sky.
Upon a death that star will fade
without a reason why.

Foot prints sink into the depths
in quicksand on the beach.
Shifting ever slightly now,
in dreams we cannot breach.

Who is the watcher of our seas,
where do our souls ascend?
How many prayers, paved the way,
Or is life just all pretend?

    Hoodwinked!

Great work on this poem! It had a very lord of the ringsy feel for me, and a great flow and rhyme that remained steady throughout... great imagery and wonderfully chosen phrasing to convey your message, great work!

    I loved this content & style ...

Very interesting questions put together here in poetical pondering. I love thinking about these things and usually can feel that spirit move within me and say, "Later Joy, you don't need to know now!" Oh boy! I think ... joy

    Brilliant

i really loved this poem. it has a wonderful rhythm to it and there's a lot of meaning behind it too! "of ever lasting tide" i love that - it really frames life for me. the other line that really hit home was "how many prayers, paved the way?" that's really beautiful!
great job! really enjoyed reading it!

    Interesting

Or is life just all pretend. I really like this line. It hits me hard, because i'm into philosophy and I question myself that sometimes. The whole poem overall, is wonderful, but the last four lines really hit home. So good jo
