If I Could Have Just One Wish

InnocentIf I could have just one wish

I would like to visit Heaven,

I'd get a golden invitation that dropped from the sky

Stating it's GOD, pick you up at seven

I would hear the sounds of pounding horse hoofs

Then a white heavenly steed would come to sight,

I would climb on his back, with the stairs provided

And fly away into the starry, starry night

It would only take a mere second to get there

I saw the light everyone talks about, you see,

I get off the steed's muscular back, take a look around

I see everyone who was ever so close to me

Oh what a blessed reunion we shall have

I hope in Heaven they remember my name,

I pray that they see me, on the streets of gold

And that our relationships are still the same

I reunited with all my precious loved ones

Of course they remembered little ole me,

I told them I used my one wish

To visit Heaven, and GOD heard my wishful plea!

    Sweet

I really like this poem. It really connects to me since I have lost my close friends the past 2 years. I miss this so much and there isn't a single thing in this world that I wouldn't do to just visit with them and to see them. That would be my only wish for my upcoming birthday in April! So I really like this poem! Keep writing!

I do so hope that it will be this way as you describe, all together again for I do believe that death is just an extension of our lives, eternity the new home for all of us to be together again. Lovely sentiments.

    Nicely done

it's spelled 'hooves'. Other than that, your desire to reunite with whoever you have lost (among other things) is apparent, and your rhythm kept the reader going. I love how wistful it seemed; well done.

Oh such great visuals here. I hope it's just like you describe! Only I hope the animals that have passed through our lives are right there with our loved ones all to greet us with open arms, or wagging tails! A beautiful write! Kelly
