Soft white light, from Heaven bright
Sends down an Angel, to hold you tight
In his embrace, gentle and warm
Between two worlds torn, know not which to go
Heaven’s Angel takes your hand, in turn, your feet leave land
High and higher you seem to soar, leaving Earth forever more
Once, you turn, and looking down, see you family gathered ‘round
“That’s not me!” you cry, staring the Angel in the eye
“Why so soon, And why now, My family needs me!”
The Angel smiles, and gives your hand a tug
“We have any more miles, before we can hug.”
You notice then, who your Angel is
“My love, I’ve missed you so!”
“And I you, though you cannot stay, onward we must go
Say farewell, for you are not alone.
Once more you look back, a farewell kiss off your lips
Back on track, listening to the love and miss
The accepting, then the crying to laughter
The stories, a well played life
A well won game.
Author notes
Author's Note:
This is a tribute to my grandmother who passed this past year, in July. I wrote this the same night when we got home from the hospital. I find sometimes that a lot of my inspiration comes from recent tradegy. Hope it is...interesting.
