Why

Why can't they except us?
Why can't they see that we are only human?
Why do they judge us on something so small as sexuality?

Just cuz we are gay doesn't mean we should be treated like we are!
Just cuz we are different to you!
Just cuz we know who we like!

People judge others on so many little things!
Why can't they just realise that we didn't choose to be gay?
Why would someone choose to be gay if they know how people feel about gays?

I once wished that I wasn't like I am
But then I realised that denying who I am
Isn't going to do anything

Hiding behind a false life isn't something I am willing to do
I would rather be called names and bullied because of who I am
Then to bully someone else for being who they want to be

Author notes

This is about how I feel about people being mean to gays just cuz thier different

So rare are your words, yet so badly needed.

I so gladfully agree with all that you have so wisely said. Isn't it past time we all see everyone just for themselves and not to expect anything from them, the way they look, the clothes they wear, their friends, the homes they either do or do not live in, the nationality, sexual orientation, religion.... and the whole list to go along with it. Isn't it just time?

This is a very nice poem. You did a wonderful job on it. And the message in it is very true. Very well written. Lines 7, and 11-15 add a lot to the poem. Tied it all together well. Maybe one day we'll all be able to treat eachother equally...No matter what our differences. Good job

    A very smart poem...

This poem is very well written and has a message that is so true! Nobody should be bullied for being who they are, as long as they are not hurting anybody. I have gay students and I've been teaching for so many years, I can pretty well tell when a kid is gay even when he's about 10 years old. One boy grew up to be a wealthy cosmetologist... specializes in coloring hair. Earns sometimes $500 a day. He lives with a guy in San Francisco. His mum has disowned him and that's the saddest part of his story. I don't care that he is gay except that it has been difficult for him. I love him all the same. We should all love one another.
