As light defines day and dark the night,
so does the ocean a lonely ship, cast
on surface of that which seems bright
billowing over the deck and mast
and captain and crew, hauled off course
by the blow of fate and the pull of tide,
heave to and heave ho with no recourse
but to stay afloat on a tempest’s ride.
My life is thus, but before you think
I am lost to the shore as it is to me,
you must know my choice was a briny brink
rather than tied and tucked in bays of safety.
I am used to the full-blown mast
that stretches itself to near-tear.
It is to this adventure my destiny I cast
for I am most humble when I am in fear.
Though caution warns of going off half-cocked,
it is here that my god takes the rudder full tilt
and he will lead me to safety and well tied to dock
I am the boat that he sails, however he wilt.
‘Tis to this I surrender my map and guide.
To Him do I give my full attention
not the surf nor the gentle glide
but to follow the way of his intention.

tis true...not been one to float along on easy seas

Whow! This piece and the image of an iron boat make me think of Gordon Lightfoot's song,"The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald" You've gotten inside a sailors soul with this highly charged emotional piece.~~Suseann

Destiny Seized ?
Destiny Seized or Destiny Seas ... or Destiny sees Destiny Seized on Seas...sure...a lternative Litany ?
Destiny's Caesura
Sharp Harp Carp on Time’s Warped Tarp
Time's Frieze Caesura – Seize Frees Time’s Usury
As day and dark on time alight
as ocean waves godsend,
all surfaces, matt, gloss, black, bright
into each other trend.
Of course no course sates appetite
coarse, fine, - late, early tend
to mock man's refrained recourse quite
around tomorrow's bend...

You know, it is like I am whipped to and fro in lfie and I still sing, "rock me, baby!"

"I am used to the full-blown mast

It is to this adventure my destiny I cast
for I am most humble when I am in fear."
An incredibly profound penning, my Sister...completely beautiful metaphors utilized throughout this piece...I guess I've been one to tarry in the path of tempests, too...somehow, I've always made it back to shore...Good luck in the contest, Sweetie...

Do you think we are addicted to the saving?
Perhaps I have tempted fate to see how far it would go to save me.
