The truth
is I am a witch
My mother says
I am a satanist
My church damns me to hell
but still I see the light
knowing the truth
We are strong,
Intelligent,
Caring individuals,
Continuing to pursue
A life of peace
Whatever you believe
Is something I will never
Challenge, all I ask is
Can you just try to
Accept that this belief is mine?
Nature, a connection
Earth, Fire, Water, Air
All intertwined
friendships growing closer
through a deeper understanding
Using natural gifts from the Goddess
to enlighten the world
From aiding the rain...
To easing heartache...
To curing diseases through mediation..
A dual deity,
The Horned God...
And Blessed Goddess..
Everything on Earth
comes from their love and power
Why must I be damned
Into a Christian Hell?
Can I just have my beliefs?
Can you learn the truth?
Another day, Another fight
But I know the truth
The summerland waits for me
to rest until
my next reincarnation
The Goddess granting me peace
so that I may face
the challenges that await
The truth?
I am a Wiccan.

I was inspired to write this because of the prejudice against witches... and having to hide who I am from the majority of the world because if not, I would experience the same kind of persecution that many have suffered before me. I, being 19, am not ready to take on such a burden with the whole world. But the people that matter know, and those who don't know, don't matter....

Absolutly amazing. Its nice to know you have the strength to im against the world. My mama is also wiccan. Why must others condem us- and by us i mean anyone who is a different religion- to a christian hell. nicely written!

I am neither a Christian nor a Paganism hater. I belong to neither as well... thought I truly do find it annoying and wrong when they shun each other. I think it's the most hypocritical thing for a religion to shun someone else's beliefs. When in itself it says to embrace and forgive. (Christian's anyway.) I found your piece to be very raw and real and the sad truth of society. Unfortunately there is good and bad to everything. We just have to learn to take the good with the bad. Well.. this was a fine piece thank you for entering and good luck.

I applaud you on this effort to deliver the meaning if a wiccan. Predjudice is blinding, therefore i have none. I have read the ways of a wiccan and have friends that are, i respect their ways, for it is peacful, harm none, first rule, loved it ty for the share.
