Chosen To Know - Gold

Missing image
It could be said you will live again,
come back as some new lesson,
float on gauze until rejoined
with those you care to invite for tea.
Perhaps you will wear bones again,
and flesh, and speak of your journeys
in a Higher Court.  A garden gate
might be the place you wait.  But for a time,
I am bereft of your empty place here.

When you return, you may speak
in a different voice, but those who heard
you first will remember the tone and timbre,
the way your tongues curled over your teeth,
your certain gestures and grievances.  Knowing
never ceases when there has been soul talk.

You could come in a flurry of fur
or fluttering wings, growling or humming
over your favorite toy.  I will not be afraid
if curtains part and you stand, sighing
at the foot of my bed.  The only startle
to it, will be that you choose me to know it is you.

Author notes

I have heard my mother's voice, seen curtains part...I have no doubt.

thank you so much fro this. I do have to tell you, as well, I had a kitten and a puppy that I got at the same time. When I lived in a fly in community. She had a certain jingle toy ball that was her favorite. "Kitten Mitten" was killed by wild dogs. For three nights, int he middle of the night, my little dog would begin tryign to wake me up. She woudl not leave the bed. We heard the ball jingling. The next night, I pruposefuly mvoed the ball up onto the kitchen coutner. That night, the ball was ont he floor jingling. Now, I have no idea what it was, but for three nights, I beleive that something played with that ball.

Same here Hon. But she came furry, stayed 21 more years and left in an instant again.Guess it's because they're needed or need to be with us or just to still be. This racks the heart to read, but also bring joys of knowing.Again and again and always.lol~Suseann

Yes, I had not thought of such a thing before. But, it made me know that even animals love us more than this earth.
