I Didn't Know

I didn't know that plans could change,
So quickly as they did,
I didn't know that lives could change,
So quickly as they did,

I didn't know that life gets,
Harder as you age,
I didn't know that life is like trying,
Not to burn sage in a fire,

I didn't know that it was wrong,
To steal cars,
I didn't know that it was wrong,
To take full cups of beer out of bars,

I didn't know that a roof with a slope,
Over sixty degrees isn't safe,
But I didn't know of,
A better place to relax,

I didn't know the water's not safe,
When it runs a deep golden brown,
And I didn't know that water could be,
Too deep to drown,

I didn't know hell was a paradise,
And life was a hell,
I didn't know the tone of a drum,
Could almost match the beauty of a bell.
