Tales of a Battlefeild

Stand in line and watch the soldiers wait for the start
They know this is suicide but they lose no heart
When they were younger they were all fuelled on dreams
Now they are older they are all fuelled on screams

Corpses already are strewn around the ground
Everyone is terrified but no one dares to make a sound
And I lie in the centre ready for the final fight
I am still watching even though I was killed last night

I am inside the heart and soul of this massacre
Why must so of these many innocents die for honour
Someone somewhere out there is covering this blood
They could try for the rest of their lives but it does not good
You could pray and you can plead but nothing will change
This mass murder will just be exactly the same

One of these people I see once was in love with a girl
But they can never tell for tonight they’ll leave this world
It is not just the body count that is the killing
People’s lives are broken are broken as their blood’s spilling

Don’t be sacred my children for this is not in vain
Hopefully they’ll learn not to let this happen ever again
Don’t you feel guilty and don’t you feel coarse
You were made to do this so there’s no need for remorse

I am inside the heart and soul of this massacre
Why must so of these many innocents die for honour
Someone somewhere out there is covering this blood
They could try for the rest of their lives but it does not good
You could pray and you can plead but nothing will change
This mass murder will just be exactly the same

Don’t be stupid you can’t fix them for they’re not broken
They stand like statues with their truth unspoken
As long as you remember them with tears to cry
They will not be upset too much that they had to die

Do you know what it is like to be so far beyond fear
To watch your generation completely disappear
And all that is left of them is the words of yesterday

I am inside the heart and soul of this massacre
Why must so of these many innocents die for honour
Someone somewhere out there is covering this blood
They could try for the rest of their lives but it does not good
You could pray and you can plead but nothing will change
This mass murder will just be exactly the same

A very strong write. I enjoyed how the dead spoke of the living. Not wishing them to join him, but knowing they will. An in your face entry. Thank you and good luck.
