How hard can it be
To capture the capital
Of the opposing empire?
Surely one cannot know
Without first making a calculated attempt.
If previous experience is any indication
Of what light the future holds,
Then it might be best to stay home
And watch the foreseeable destruction of human life
From the safety of the sidelines.
Are both armies not made up of the same basic unit?
Is one human life worth more than another?
What audacity their commanders must have
To honestly believe
That they hold universal truth
In their war plans.
How much death must occur
For their drunken eyes
To be pried open?
Are we all not mere reflections of one another,
Simply pieces of the same puzzle?
When will they realize the harsh reality of their actions?
When all are dead?
Their restless thirst for agression
Will be quenched only when
None are left to appreciate its cessation.
