My Life Is . . .

My life is a flower
It blooms by the day
Yet at the same time
It slowly fades away

While growing with patience
It withstands hard days
And as its reward,
It receives the sun’s rays

My life is a car
It ventures new land
With no signs to guide;
The pathway unplanned

Obstacles appear
From the left and from the right
Causing frustration to rise
And hide what’s coming out of sight

My life is a roller coaster
The best-known analogy
It has its ups and downs
We all know that’s reality

At the top of the ride,
The excitement flares
But reach the bottom
The fun no longer is there

My life can be anything
From the floor to the sky
It flows with the wind
As if it could fly

Author notes

    Wonderful

I was so impressed with the life brought into the poem through your use of metaphors. I can almost envision the experiences of your life. Reads with ease on the eyes and has a wonderful flow of repitition for the title. It's precise and gets straight to the point in a vivid mannerism; while still acknowledging a message. I look forward to reading more from you. -theQueen"

    Impressive

Wow, I was impressed with the ease with which this poem flows. It speaks in vivid detail about life and how we all experience it from time to time. Nice structure with simple words and is so expressive! Loved your use of metaphors; gives the poem life and is entertaining while still sending a message. Good job. I hope to read more from you. And, I believe the title is consistent with the poem because of its repitition.

A piece which kept a steady rhythm much like the content as it traversed the deck of cards dealt and showed with imagery that they will be dealt with come what may,an introspective and positive piece, well done

Very nicely done. I think most poets have related life to a flower and its petals at some point. But that did not deter from the beauty of this. Good job.

I like all the similes you used within this piece. Most of them not cliche phrases, and when you do get to the cliche one, you actually state that it is "the best known analogy". Sort of catching yourself on using this cliche. Love the piece, personally.

This poem is great. You drew me into your poem. Life has its up and downs. Flowers are fragile like life can be. Keep writing and spreading your words around to be heard.
