He doesn't like the mirror game
sliding in from the side
my eyes wide - dramatic
his trying not to see
the ghosts in the glass.
Fighting with my hand
is more to his tastes.
I call him what I would
if he had no name. He knows
names mean nothing.
Our names are reflections
in mirrors.
I wonder what he calls me.
Please tell me what you think

Ahhhh, another cat poem :-)
I love the title and how it plays into the name thing. The last stanza and line give this substance and makes the reader contemplate.
Very nicely done,

Another interesting piece, which I can relate to!
We have such interesting relationships with our pet cats. My 3 cats aren't phased by mirrors either.
They tend to spend most of their time just meowing, for no particular reason at all.
Actually one of them called Sapphire has taken to hiding under our couch so she doesn't have to go out at night, many a time we've shut her in the room by accident.
Anyway, enough about rabble. Nice poem. I liked the 'ghosts in the glass'
Again, a very effective write. Short, emotive.
I couldn't suggest improvements because I think it all fits. -
Had a cat once that would freak out over his reflection...arch the back, jump, all that. He did it once at my mom's..in the hallway,... full length mirror. He hissed, and jumped sideways, right into the closed bedroom door...which freaked him out, and made him run into the other room, which had the mirror in it, and when he relaized that he was heading for the mirror...
Wonder what he called me after that... I was laughing so hard that I couldn't talk.(and, I still say he hacked up a hairball on my bed as revenge for that) -
it is just my name, it is not me...
:-)
i love this... very good.
nice to read you again,

Wow
Long time no see... Kyew I love this! -
I love the last line of this. I often wonder myself what my cat thinks of me. Not that he isn't affectionate, just curious how he thinks. I'm guessing he likes me because I feed him and worship him.

yeah, cats are like that. like the way some people seem more 'real' than others, cats are more 'real' than other pets, in my opinion.
and you'd know if he didn't like you. he'd probably piss in your bed lmao
my room mate's cat does that to him lol

Cats..
I like this.. it works for cats, and a lot of other ..odd characters..
reflections and names...nice connection there ..
My cat ..just had a fit with a mirror the other day, the first time she's ever noticed herself so to speak..although ..it wasn't 'her' it was another cat in her mind...
reflections ..never seem ...live ..do they? even when they are ..our own.

(finally got a few minutes to reply)
dude did the same thing the first time he saw his reflection. I had the thought then to try to teach him what the mirror was. he resists lol.
he believes what his eyes tell him but his mind can't comprehend it. I think he realizes that it's him and/or me in the mirror. I'm not sure what the problem is with him - does he think we're actually IN the mirror? does he think it's a duplicate? I don't know. either way, he won't look at it for more than a few seconds.
thanks for reading

thank you for visiting.

I wonder if we know where the cat ends and we begin. Or if the cat knows. Maybe we don't know which is us and which the reflection. Somehow I think the cat does.
Good to see a write from you.
