The Plight Of Society

Moving, turning, ever spinning
Notions passed but not approved
Eyes locked, ever staring
Abstruse mysteries never solved

Lingering here is moment never meant to come
Never meant to show its noisome face
Frantically shoved aside, forsaken.

Never the less it came to be
Fortuitous, not opportune
Precariously teetering on the edge of time

Pushing the foreground of each mind
Resurgent memories wave behind each eye
Fighting for power,
Potentates of the subconscious awareness
Demagogues of the newly awakening.

The dissolution of reason has begun
Time begets a new creation
Embodying the mold of new society
Infamy stamped on the factory packaging.
Emitting all the reformed thoughts
Exhuming all we've left behind

The world today
The conscious mind
Free-thinkers all entombed.

Author notes

Block class find the vocab words!!! They're all over the place!
anyway yeah, i love block vocab, so i used in here to move it past simple words like big stuff. I enjoy being grandiloquent and aggrandizing my work. mwahaha. yeah.

    very cool

I did notice all the vocabulary words and was notely impressed. Good for you - its hard to work a large vocabulary into a poem. And here - I think you've done it so seemlessly that you don't get caught up on the words at all, they just flow into the rest of the poem with brilliant efficiency.

Haha I'm not gonna even TRY to type all the vocab words you used in there. lol Mrs. Webster would be proud^^ But you know what? You do sound very smart by using all our vocab^^ .....But I like it a lot. I still can't seem to write poetry without making it sound so...literal maybe is the word. I dunno you and Erica have that ability to write about something but not make it sound like a story or something....okay that's really confusing maybe I'll explain it better to you sometime. Anyways good job!!!

I know what you mean..I Don't think all of your stuff is literal, and sometimes it's good to be literal. Alot of my stuff and Erica pointed it out one day, i think on Prison Cells, and now i think about that when i write, so i make it a point to be not-literal..unless i want to be literal...does that make any sense???????

a lot of the non-literal-ness comes with time. I've been writing poetry since 6th grade i'm just starting to get the hang of it and actually get some really good stuff.

but i like your poetry!!! it's sounds good literal because you are good with words and can make something literal sound not-literal. yeah, i think i'm done confusing myself.

Not bad...but I find so many are so pessimistic about society today, and I simply do not agree. However, it was a well-written poem, and I enjoyed it. Thank you and good luck.

hm..of course the one time i post a political piece it is to a contest where the judge does not believe the same ;] oh well, it is no matter. it is simply that i see history begin to repeat itse;f everyday and people are just becoming so careless...but that is my belief and i will lecture you no more on it.

I am glad that i managed to write something you would like whether or not you agreeed with it.

Noisome, fortuitous (oh, you spelled it wrong too, by the way), resurgent, potentates, demagogues, dissolution, begets, embody?, infamy, emit(ting), exhum(ing), am I right? I think I got them all....Geeze, well I guess SOMETHING finally good came outta learning all 260-some of those vocab words verbatim (XD) and BY HEART. DX Ooh, and in the stanza about "mysteries", you coulda put in "abstruse" ("not understood") somewhere....XDDDD WOW, you should show this to Webster, Mara.
